Who We Are
Sam and Dave, not just another soul band, both raised in the wilds of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom; Dave in Craftsbury, and Sam in Derby Line, came together in their younger years having a shared passion for nature and adventure.
Ski-bumming their way through their young lives, they found their way to fly-fishing and never looked back. Now living on the upper reaches of the Dog River in Northfield, VT, Sam and Dave spend their angling time on the White and Winooski River watersheds, the Upper Connecticut River, and every creek, brook, lake, and tributary linking them all together.
Sam is an celebrated watercolor artist focusing on exquisite illustrations of fly-fishing flies and fish, as well as picture postcard landscapes, and the occasional angler.
Along with being a professional fishing guide and itinerant soccer coach, Dave currently works for a large-scale maple-sugaring operation and spends his days running amok through the woods of the Pinneo Brook Basin in Bolton, VT.
Sam and Dave are parents to their son Zeke, whose love of soccer has them traveling throughout New England for tournaments, training, and nail-biting matches!
Through years of learning, guiding, and co-instructing both anglers in the wild and young people at the Vermont Trout Camp for Teens, Sam and Dave have developed a patient, welcoming, and light-hearted approach to fly-fishing mentoring and instruction, and are delighted to be able to share their passion, skill, and experience with you.
